Residents of Independent Living enjoy some support and services, such as meals, housekeeping, and transportation but can take their own medications and can dress, bathe, and groom independently. Independent Living residents can also generally prepare meals, perform some light housekeeping, and laundry.
Personal Care residents receive the same services as Independent Living residents but may face challenges managing their activities of daily living. Our Personal Care at Paxson Hall is licensed to help administer medications and assist with dressing and bathing. In addition, our Personal Care residents receive all meals as well as laundry service as a part of their monthly fee.
-
While residents of Friends Village may be eligible or receive Medicare or Medicaid benefits due to health or life experiences, we are a private pay community. That means that residents and/or family pay monthly fees out-of-pocket.
-
Friends Village may provide some assistance in times of financial need. Each situation is reviewed by our Executive Director and Board to determine the level of financial need required.
Residents who foresee the potential for financial difficulty are encouraged to contact our Finance & Administration Senior Director as soon as possible. -

While some of our residents may experience some memory issues, Friends Village is not a licensed memory care facility.
Memory care is not necessarily needed, however, if a resident experiencing mild to moderate memory issues is responsive to staff assistance and does not wander away from the community.
Should the need arise, our Director of Resident Services will work closely with families whose loved ones may require additional onsite care or placement in a licensed memory care community. -
Many people believe they must move into a large continuing care retirement community (CCRC) to ensure they’ll receive future care and “never have to move again.” In reality, residents in those communities often move between buildings and adjust to new staff as their needs change. Friends Village offers a simpler, more flexible approach. Residents live independently in their cottages with access to NeighborCare, our on-site home care service, which can bring personalized assistance right to their door if additional support is needed.
Research shows that while about 70% of adults over 65 may need some help at some point, much of that care is temporary, such as during recovery from illness or surgery, and about one-third of older adults never need long-term care at all.
With NeighborCare available when needed, residents can maintain independence and familiar surroundings without paying for future care they may never use. -
