You are invited to embark on a unique sentimental journey, as actress and historian Monica Hoffman performs as Amelia Earhart in a one woman show that reveals the life and legacy of the world’s most celebrated female aviator. In her time, Amelia was passionate about achieving her goals in aviation, which included becoming the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. She also felt strongly about encouraging others, especially women and girls, to achieve their biggest dreams. If Amelia were to return today, this is what she would have to say…
About the Performance:
During the course of the 40-minute performance, Amelia recalls the events of her life from childhood through her final flight, highlighting her many accomplishments in aviation as well as her local connection to the Philadelphia area through her experience attending school in Abington, PA and soloing and setting an altitude record in an autogiro in Willow Grove, PA. Through her heartfelt recollection, Amelia gives audiences both a fascinating account of her life as well as a message of encouragement and determination in achieving goals that reflect her personal convictions.
Determined Spirit is a brush with Amelia’s sense of adventure and purpose and an opportunity to hear the encouraging message that she had for women of her time, and those of today: a unique sense of what it might feel like to meet the real Amelia-intelligent, warm and engaging.
